Nationals fall to Mets 6-2

The New York Mets challenged the the Washington Nationals yesterday at Citi Field with the Mets triumphant 6 to 2. It was a thrilling night of baseball that anyone with Mets tickets will definitely cherish. It’s not too late to take in a game so get your baseball tickets soon!

Mets pitcher John Maine (4.13 ERA) got the win, while Garrett Mock (5.83 ERA) took the loss for the Nationals. John Maine went 5 innings for the Mets, allowed 2 hits, no home runs and no earned runs with one walk and one strikeout. Also pitching for the Mets was Elmer Dessens (2.90), Sean Green (4.85), and Brian Stokes (4.31). The Nationals’s starter Garrett Mock went 7 innings, allowed 9 hits, no home runs and 4 earned runs with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Zach Segovia (18.00), Victor Garate (18.00), and Logan Kensing (10.43) also pitched for the Nationals. With the win, Maine’s record goes to 6-5, while Mock falls to 3-9. Francisco Rodriguez earned the save for the Mets, bringing his saves up to 33.

In addition to the 6 runs, the Mets managed 11 hits and committed no errors. Angel Pagan led the Mets in hitting with 3 hits, followed by Daniel Murphy’s 2 hits, and Carlos Beltran with 2. David Wright had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Nationals didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Nationals mustered 2 runs, 5 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Rick Reed, Jeff Kellogg, Tim Timmons and Mark Wegner. There were 38,347 Mets ticket holders in attendance at Citi Field.

The win puts the Mets at a record of 65-85, (23 games behind the division leader), while the loss brings the Nationals to 51-98, (36.5 games behind first place in the division). The Nationals get a chance for revenge tomorrow. There are still plenty of tickets available so take a look.
