The Florida Marlins barely got a “W” over the New York Mets yesterday at Landshark Stadium with the Marlins winning 7 to 6. It was quite a game that followers with Marlins tickets will be talking about for days.
Marlins pitcher Leo Nunez (2.76 ERA) got the win, while Pedro Feliciano (1.99 ERA) took the loss for the Mets. Nate Robertson went 6 innings for the Marlins, allowed 7 hits, no home runs and 4 earned runs with 2 walks and one strikeout. Also pitching for the Marlins was Tim Wood (5.09), Taylor Tankersley (3.86), and Jose Veras (8.31). The Mets’s starter Hisanori Takahashi went 5.2 innings, allowed 9 hits, 2 home runs and 6 earned runs with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Elmer Dessens (0.64), Bobby Parnell (0.00), and Francisco Rodriguez (2.08) also pitched for the Mets. With the win, Nunez’s record goes to 3-1, while Feliciano falls to 2-3.
Hanley Ramirez provided much of the offense for the Marlins with an incredible 4 runs batted in. In addition to the 7 runs, the Marlins managed 13 hits and committed no errors. Jorge Cantu led the Marlins in hitting with 3 hits, followed by Nate Robertson’s 2 hits, and Dan Uggla with 2. David Wright had the most hits for the Mets (3), followed by Ruben Tejada (2). The Mets managed 6 runs, 12 hits and no errors.
Umpiring duties were performed by Adrian Johnson, Tim McClelland, Andy Fletcher and Mike Everitt. There were 18,373 Marlins ticket holders in attendance at Landshark Stadium.
