Mets Lose Close One To Reds

The Cincinnati Reds got a tough win over the New York Mets yesterday at Citi Field with the Reds picking up the W 3 to 1. It was one heck of a game that folks with Reds tickets aren’t likely to forget.

Reds pitcher Bronson Arroyo (4.04 ERA) got the win, while Jonathon Niese (3.61 ERA) took the loss for the Mets. Bronson Arroyo went 8 solid innings for the Reds, allowed 7 hits, one home run and one earned run with no walks and 3 strikeouts. The Mets’s starter Jonathon Niese went 7.2 innings, allowed 6 hits, 2 home runs and 3 earned runs with one walk and 8 strikeouts. Bobby Parnell (2.00), and Elmer Dessens (1.59) also pitched for the Mets. With the win, Arroyo’s record goes to 9-4, while Niese is at 6-3. Francisco Cordero earned the save for the Reds, bringing his saves up to 24.

In addition to the 3 runs, the Reds scored 7 hits and committed no errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Reds, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. The Mets didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Mets managed one run, 8 hits and one error.

Umpiring duties were performed by Dan Iassogna, Dale Scott, Jerry Meals and Mark Wegner. There were 30,029 Mets ticket holders in attendance at Citi Field.
