The New York Mets beat the San Francisco Giants in 10 innings yesterday in a hard-fought game of baseball. You never know what you’re going to see at a baseball game, and an MLB extra-innings game is always a possibility. It was one heck of a game that devotees with Mets tickets will definitely cherish.
Mets pitcher Francisco Rodriguez (2.68 ERA) got the win, while Brian Wilson (2.03 ERA) took the loss for the Giants. Johan Santana went 8 solid innings for the Mets, allowed 8 hits, no home runs and one earned run with one walk and 5 strikeouts. The Giants’s starter Jonathan Sanchez went 7 innings, allowed 6 hits, one home run and 2 earned runs with one walk and 5 strikeouts. Chris Ray (3.46), Denny Bautista (2.86), and Guillermo Mota (3.12) also pitched for the Giants. With the win, Rodriguez’s record goes to 3-2, while Wilson is at 2-1.
In addition to the 4 runs, the Mets scored 10 hits and committed no errors. Ike Davis and Jason Bay tied for most hits for the Mets with 3 hits, followed by Johan Santana with one hit. Henry Blanco had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Giants didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. Eli Whiteside could not get much going at the plate as he left 5 runners on base. The Giants got 3 runs, 12 hits and no errors.
Umpiring duties were performed by Phil Cuzzi, Angel Campos, Brian O’Nora and Mike Estabrook. There were 37,326 Giants ticket holders in attendance at AT&T Park.
